Timezone Finder
Find the IANA timezone for any latitude and longitude. Click the map or enter coordinates to see the timezone, UTC offset and DST status.
The timezone appears here.
Why find a timezone from coordinates?
Latitude and longitude are globally consistent, but local time is not. A timezone lookup maps a
position to a named IANA timezone such as Europe/London or Asia/Kolkata,
which you can hand straight to a timezone-aware date library.
Useful applications
Scheduling, fleet tracking, travel apps, notifications sent at a sensible local hour, analytics grouped by local day, and showing local timestamps for users or assets.
Frequently asked questions
What is an IANA timezone?
IANA names such as Europe/London or Asia/Kolkata identify a region with a shared clock history, including past and future daylight-saving rules. They are what date libraries and databases expect.
Why not calculate the timezone from longitude?
Real timezone boundaries follow borders and political decisions, not longitude lines. India uses a single offset across a wide span of longitudes, and many regions use half-hour or 45-minute offsets.
What do utc_offset and dst tell me?
utc_offset is the current offset from UTC at that location and dst says whether daylight saving time is currently in effect.
