Privacy Policy

Mapsi is operated by AlgoLayer Technologies Private Limited ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what data we collect when you use mapsi.dev and our APIs, how we use it, and your rights under applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1. What We Collect

When you sign up or use the API, we may collect:

• Account information — name, email address, and password (hashed)
• API usage metadata — endpoint called, timestamp, response latency, HTTP status codes
• Billing information — handled entirely by our payment processors; we do not store card numbers
• Technical data — IP address, browser or client type, referring URL
• Coordinates or addresses you send in API requests — processed to deliver the service. These may appear in short-term operational logs for up to 30 days for debugging and rate-limiting purposes, after which they are purged. They are not linked to your account identity in any long-term storage.

2. How We Use It

• To provide and improve the Mapsi API service
• To enforce rate limits and detect abuse
• To send transactional emails (API key created, quota warnings, invoices)
• To respond to support requests
• To comply with legal obligations under Indian law

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your API request payload data for advertising.

3. Data Storage & International Transfers

Your data is stored on servers hosted by our infrastructure provider in Germany. By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer of your data outside India as necessary for the technical operation of the API. We apply reasonable technical safeguards including HTTPS, encrypted secrets, and access controls.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

Payment information is processed with Dodopayments and authentication and user management is through Clerk. We do not have the ability to access your credit card information. We use established, industry-standard sub-processors for hosting and CDN delivery. Each operates under their own privacy policy; for the full sub-processor list write to privacy@mapsi.dev.

5. Cookies

We use minimal cookies for session management and authentication. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The playground and dashboard may use local storage for user preferences.

6. Data Retention

• Account data is retained for the duration of your account plus 90 days after deletion
• API request logs (including any coordinates in those logs) are purged after 30 days
• Billing and financial records are retained as required by Indian accounting and tax law (typically 8 years)

7. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

• Access a summary of your personal data we hold
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request erasure of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for optional processing
• Nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf

8. Children

Mapsi is not directed at children under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users or via a notice on the site. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
